TECHNICAL INFORMATION
- Have “Zoom” application installed on your device (PC preferred or phone)
– have a webcam (preferably movable if you are using a PC)

The content of the course will be adapted to your level, whether you have never worked with leather before or have more experience... 😉

GROUP WORKSHOP : DISCOVERY
CONTENTS
By making a small decorated object (a card case), we discover leatherwork in small groups (4 people max):
- basic tools for beginners
- cutting
- introduction to leather carving
- saddle stitching with linen thread
- simple finishes
REQUIRED SKILLS
No particular skills required.

1 DAY GROUP COURSE - BASICS OF HAND-MAKING LEATHER (excluding carving)
CONTENTS
Through the creation of a notebook cover, we will work in a group (4 people max) on most of the basic techniques needed to get you seriously started in handmade leatherwork:
- developing a coherent project
- different leathers, which leather for which use?
- pattern making (materials and tips)
- cutting (half-moon knife exercises)
- skiving leather (paring knife exercises)
- dyeing (marbled/spotted dyeing, edge dyeing)
- tool sharpening (demonstration)
- saddle stitching with linen thread
- manual finishing techniques
- suppliers and good addresses
REQUIRED SKILLS
Intermediate level :
You should already have some experience of leatherwork, have some manual skills or have already completed the «Discovery» course (it is possible to combine the "Discovery" course and this one in the same weekend).

1-DAY GROUP COURSE: CARVING
CONTENTS
By working on carving exercises with a variety of motifs, the group will look at the difficulties encountered, techniques and tips to help you develop your decorative skills on leather!
- which leather for carving
- moistening the leather
- carving tools
- how to use a swivel knife (sharpening and tips)
- precisely transfer a pattern
- use of the spoon and modeling tools
- notions of pattern depth
– shading and texture work
REQUIRED SKILLS
For people who have already practised carving or are comfortable with it manually and would like to discover/improve their carving techniques. If you are unsure about your level, please contact me to discuss 🙂

1-DAY GROUP COURSE: EMBOSSING
CONTENTS
By creating a complex design with a very pronounced relief, we're going to look at the different techniques involved in embossing:
- which leather to choose?
- What thickness?
- how to humidify correctly?
- how to deform leather from the back?
- filling the back of the embossed part, with what and how?
- embossing work on embossed parts
- surface modelling to create details
REQUIRED SKILLS
For people who already do carving regularly and want to add extra volume to their work and detailed finishes. If you are unsure of your level, contact me to discuss 🙂 It is possible to combine the «carving» course and this one on the same weekend.
